The Homeowner's Vision:

The Timonium residents contacted Bel Air Construction because the floor plan of their 16 year old home was too crowded. Instead of moving to a new home, they opted to change the floor plan of their home and add more space. Their original kitchen was too crowded and the configuration of the cabinets and countertops was not conducive to entertaining or cooking. The existing dining room adjacent to the kitchen was very cramped. There were walls that divided the dining room, living room, and kitchen which created a "closed-in" feeling. Furthermore, the deck outside the living room was in poor condition.

Bel Air Construction's Solution:

Bel Air Construction proposed a solution to reconfigure the entire first floor plan. The existing deck was removed and over 260 sq.ft. of living space was added out the back. Many of the dividing walls between rooms were removed to create a more open atmosphere.

The result was a very large open family/great room adjacent to the kitchen. A new island was installed in the kitchen which would be convenient for dropping groceries and preparing meals. New hardwood flooring was installed in the kitchen, eat in area, living room, entry foyer, and den.

After the addition was completed, Bel Air Construction installed a new Trex deck outside the addition.   TrimTech fascia board was placed on deck edges. A white vinyl rail system was wrapped around the deck.   A retaining wall was constructed about 10 feet from the deck near the woods (each stone was randomly laid). A stone patio was constructed at the base of the deck.

The homeowners now enjoy a much more open home. In addition to the added space, the removing of the dividing walls between rooms creates a more open atmosphere that is conducive to cooking, entertaining, and moving around in general. With the vaulted ceilings, windows and doors, the homeowners rarely have to turn on the lights during the day.

In the end, the homeowner said:

"I am very grateful for the extra effort and care that you are taking to ensure that we will get a 'finished product' that we want...One of the reasons that we went with Bel Air Construction was because from the very beginning, Michael understood what we wanted and seemed as excited about it as we were!"
