Transformed Porch and Patio

Outdoor Space Transformation

Customer Issues

The homeowner’s objective was to elevate their outdoor living space by replacing an old and rotting deck with a large, covered deck with adjacent patio.

Bel Air Construction Solutions

The Bel Air Construction team approached the two objectives as a single integrated project with the end result being significantly enhanced and upgraded outdoor living space

The footprint of the new deck is nearly 50% larger than the previous deck. It is screened to allow air flow while keeping the summer pests at bay. The project is constructed of contemporary state-of-the-art low maintenance materials so that the homeowner can better enjoy their new outdoor living space. The Wolf railing and Versatex wrapped posts emulate the look of traditional millwork without the required upkeep. The shed roof is carefully blended into the existing structure. A defining feature of the design is the pre-finished Synergy wood ceiling in the Southern Pine Colonial finish that is compatible with the Trex decking. Two ceiling fans will keep the space cool and comfortable. White Versatex is used as skirting to provide a finished look.

Leading to the patio are a set of 10-foot-wide steps. The stair treads are Trex deck boards with Versatex risers. The paving stones are by Cambridge with textures and colors that resemble real stone and are complementary to the colors of the decking. The centerpiece of the patio is a 42” Ravello concrete fire bowl sitting within a circle of contrasting paving stones. A semi-circle of retaining wall stone is used to create a seating wall. The entire patio is edged with a contrasting paving stone border.
