Why Work Stations are Better Than Work Triangles

Have you ever heard the term “work triangle?”

It originated many years ago. It was a mathematical plan to make the layout of the kitchen the most efficient space for one person to work preparing a meal. You took the distance between the sink, refrigerator and stove and added them up and the sum was supposed to be about 21’.

Maybe that made sense in 1985 but it sure doesn’t today. Today’s kitchen needs to be so much more flexible than the kitchens of thirty years ago.

What works better are work stations. Multiple stations enable multiple people to work together in a kitchen rather than compete for space or be in each other’s way.
